Donating Gas Money to Charity

2010 Fund Drive Flier and Pledge

donate-gas-money

Some St. Petersburg Bicycle Club, Inc., members have come up with a way to help generous supporters be able to donate more money to their favorite charities/non-profits.  We've started the “Donating Gas Money to Charity” fund drive which will operate during November and December 2010.

Here's the pledge everyone takes for the 2010 “Donating Gas Money to Charity” fund drive:

"I ___________________________(print your name) promise to bicycle, ride mass transit, and/or be a pedestrian instead of drive a car as often as possible in November and/or December 2010.  At the end of each month, I will calculate how much money I saved on gas and, as my finances enable me, will donate part or all of that amount to the charity/non-profit of my choice.  If I purchase the optional “Donating Gas Money to Charity” T-shirt, I will wear it as often as possible when I bicycle, ride the bus, or am a pedestrian.

If anyone offers to give me money toward the fund drive, I will not accept the money because I do not want this project to be used by scammers.  Instead, I will tell the person to donate his/her money directly to a worthy charity/non-profit.

Signature: _______________________________________  Date: _________________"

Being a pedestrian means you can walk, in-line skate, skateboard, run, use a wheelchair, or do any of the other options associated with being a pedestrian.

To make November and December 2010 even better, please see the Florida state bicycling and motorist laws and safety tips at www.floridabicycle.org .

Optional T-shirts

If you wish to buy an optional “Donating Gas Money to Charity” T-shirt as pictured above to show you’re participating in the fund drive, the short-sleeved T-shirts cost $7 for one shirt or $13 for two shirts.

We have made the T-shirts as inexpensive as possible so even the cash-strapped can afford them.  Participants are not required to buy the T-shirts.  However, we encourage people to buy and wear the shirts while they are bicycling, riding mass transit, and being a pedestrian so other people can see that these transportation forms are good for the person doing it and for the rest of society.  Checks to purchase T-shirts can be made payable to St. Petersburg Bicycle Club, Inc.  Cash is also acceptable.

"Donating Gas Money to Charity" T-shirts can be purchased at the below bicycle shops:
